Job Description

Duties

  • Assign and explain work requirements to subordinate, setting deadlines and establishing sequence of work operations to be followed.
  • Skill and knowledge in the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of electrical wiring systems, fixtures, controls, and equipment in industrial, institutional, office, and residential buildings.
  • Prepare QIRs to identify and rectify unworkable procedures, policies or equipment.
  • Oversee recording and documentation of PM and work orders.
  • Write brand name or sole source justifications when required due to unique equipment maintenance needs.
  • Participate in budget reviews and prioritizes/ maximizes work within available budget and constraints.
  • Coordinate work efforts with supervisors of other services and organizations to minimize disruptions to these activities and/or patient care.
  • Spot checks work operations.
  • Review completed work and inspection reports to assure that production and quality standards are achieved.

Work Schedule:Full time; Tuesday - Friday, 2:00pm - 10:30pm; Saturday, 10:30am - 7:00pm
Position may require work beyond regular tour of duty including but not limited to: after and before hours, weekends, holidays.

Physical Requirements/Working Conditions:
Works from ladders, scaffolding and hydraulic platforms. He/she often works in portions of the utility systems requiring attention that are cramped, dirty and hard-to-reach locations. The work may involve prolonged crouching and standing and frequent stooping, bending, kneeling, climbing and working in exhausting and uncomfortable positions. May frequently lifts or carries tools, equipment, ladders, scaffolding, parts and supplies up to 50 pounds. Occasionally, will be required to lift and carry items over 50 pounds. May be exposed to fumes, loud noises, saw dust and other environmental hazards. Exposed to a full array of weather conditions. Subject to danger of falling when working from ladders or hydraulic lifts. Exposed to dust/dirt while mixing mortar and handling materials. Work is performed in all areas of the hospital environment, inside and outside. Work is often dirty, dusty and greasy. Subjected to such hazardous conditions as-injury from power driven tools, falling from scaffolds and ladders, temperature extremes, noise, and bad weather conditions. He/she is frequently exposed to the possibilities of cuts, bruises, scratches, broken bones, and bums. Subject to asbestos exposure and chemicals which can cause bums or irritation to the skin. Some duties may require to wear protective equipment and clothing that is heavy and uncomfortable.
