Overview:
Provides engineering support to plant issues that impact daily production. In this role, the Maintenance Engineer provides technical expertise (equipment-based or repair technique based) which impacts the availability and maintainability of the facility.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor or needed to keep the plant operational.
  • Participates in developing the maintenance budget to support the maintenance strategy.
  • Develop and maintain a list of MET vendors for rotating equipment. Be the plant focal point for critical rotating jobs
  • Support the PPM coordinator as required in reviewing the spare parts list for existing equipment. Update BOMs for critical rotating equipment
  • As required, provides engineering input to work packages to ensure standards are followed.
  • Provide engineering input to work packages to ensure standards are followed.
  • Provide input/develop the maintenance strategy on those issues dealing with PPM.
  • Support equipment repair prioritization based on criticality and condition
  • During turnaround work scope development, provides input on the development of work orders, particularly on critical rotating equipment requiring engineering review or input.
  • Provides maintainability input to capital projects.
  • Ensures repairs, repair techniques, equipment specific training, are documented and made available
  • For equipment that is critical for the process ensure that work requests include engineering input on repair details such as clearances, tolerances, materials of construction, welding procedures, etc., and if necessary provide onsite/offsite technical support for deviations from this data.
  • Support maintence excellence initiatives for the different maintenance disciplines
  • Support the RCM implementation project
  • Participates in the facilitation and implementation of the Apollo RCI process to include the application of the cause and effect methodology in all areas where reliability opportunities are identified and where the RCI triggers are met.
  • Lead and support some expense projects planning and execution
  • Provide equipment reliability and performance data to the technical resource networks for input into equipment purchasing requirements, evaluation of equipment performance, vendor performance, and modifications to MET level 1.
  • Provides technical expertise to plant personnel on troubleshooting failures, repairs, and evaluating whether the equipment is designed to meet its intended or existing service conditions.
  • Serves as a subject matter expert in equipment failures and repair techniques for rotating equipment

Job Requirements

  • Knowledge of rotating equipment including design (codes, standards, etc…) application, installation, operations, and repair.
  • BS degree in Engineering (mechanical engineering preferred). Five years of chemical plant/refinery experience with a specific emphasis on maintenance or engineering roles, preferred.
  • Excellent technical and problem-solving.
