Job Description
  • Ability to interact with departments and postal workers in a pleasant, efficient manner.
  • Ability to push a cart up to 30% of work time
  • Education: N/A
  • Ability to work independently 90% of work time
  • Ability to maintain a schedule for timely delivery of interdepartmental mail.
  • Position Summary
  • Ability to lift packs containing mail up to fifty pounds, 40% of work time.
  • Ability to walk and stand for up to 100 percent of work time.
  • Ability to lift and move paper up to 50 pounds, 20% of work time.
  • Sorts incoming mail to individual departments and/or people. Collects all outgoing mail, weighs, and affixes appropriate postage, using automatic postage metering system. Operates high-speed copier/duplicator/sorter to produce copies of material from requesting departments. Performs delivery of interdepartmental memos and mail, requiring knowledge of all hospital locations.
  • Ability to perform simple arithmetic in order to maintain logs.
  • Ability to prioritize workload in order to deliver and ship mail in an efficient manner.
  • Analytical ability to determine proper action to effect minor repairs on equipment.
  • Experience: Computer experience required for accessing the Pitney Bowes Address Right System, WordPerfect and Excel for departmental reports.
  • Simple mechanical ability to understand and operate scales and postage meter.
  • Ability to lift packs containing mail up to fifty pounds, 40% of work time.
  • Ability to interact with user departments in a pleasant efficient manner.
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions in order to interpret requests for copying, faxing and interoffice delivery of correspondence and to maintain written records.
  • Ability to follow written and oral instructions in order to sort mail and affix appropriate labeling where necessary.
  • Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)
  • Ability to work independently.

  • Approximately 3-4 months on the job training to acquire the skills necessary to perform tasks, become familiar with hospital locations and department policies and procedures.
