The Logistics Coordinator will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of supply chain management, ensuring the scheduling and flow of critical materials and final products from suppliers to our facilities. Activities include ensuring critical production schedule adherence through the proactive engagement of strategic Suppliers in order achieve quality and schedule compliance. The incumbent will work cross functionally with the Gardner Supply Chain and Operations team.

Nature and Scope:

This is an integral position within our Supply Chain organization responsible for scheduling, expediting project equipment, materials, and documents to achieve timely delivery supporting successful order execution! This position includes close coordination with Gardner Inspection and Operations teams to acquire equipment releases and provide timely shipping releases. The Logistics Coordinator is responsible to identify and report any pending Supplier delivery issues to the Supply Chain, project management and scheduling teams to minimize delays which could impact project schedules.

Travel will be required. Overall travel is encouraged to be 15% or less.

Principal accountabilities

  • Manage orders and arrange stocking of materials and equipment to ensure they meet needs
  • Demonstrate effective oral and written communication skills; maintain free and open communication.
  • Communicate with suppliers to achieve on-time delivery and schedule adherence.
  • Prepare accurate reports for scheduling purposes.
  • Embody the 4S culture of Safety, Speed, Simplicity and Self-Confidence, as well as Diversity, Inclusion and Belonging.
  • Prepare all vital records related to Supplier shipments.
  • Perform all operations vital to schedule, receive, and ship all incoming and outgoing materials and products.
  • Arrange same-day deliveries whenever possible.
  • Plan and track shipment of final products according to customer requirements
  • Coordinate with logistics staff (e.g. truck driver's) according to availabilities and requirements
  • Prepare and issue purchase orders according to the manufacturing schedule – ERP driven, and requisition driven on long lead items.
  • Maintain logs and records of delivery schedule and completed orders

  • Self-disciplined and self-motivated with a confirmed ability to work effectively with minimal supervision
  • Excellent commercial awareness and negotiating skills, both commercial and legal
  • Strong organizational and time leadership skills
  • Demonstrate prioritization, planning, and follow-up skills in a multi-tasking environment
  • Strong influencing, communication, and facilitative skills with key Suppliers
  • Familiarity with manufacturing and logistics processes
  • Sense of ownership and urgency
  • Strong project management and planning skills
  • Ability to communicate efficiently and work with internal and external customers

Preferred qualifications

  • Familiarity with SAP is strongly preferred
  • Experience in discrete manufacturing, logistics, and vessel fabrication a plus
  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher, in Logistics, Supply Chain, or Business Management or equivalent job experience
  • Knowledge of commercial logistical and purchasing procedures and practice, including industry standard processes
  • 3+ years’ experience in Procurement, Logistics, Technical, Engineering, Commercial or Project environment
  • Proven track record in leading successful transformational metrics-based projects
  • Education in technical or business field
