Purpose
USTA New England is seeking a part-time (up to 15 hours per week) Local League Coordinator to be responsible for all aspects of the recreational adult league tennis within the Western Massachusetts area, providing excellent customer service in recruitment of and support of volunteer team leads (captains) and adult team tennis players. This role focuses on building relationships with industry partners, promoting the local tennis leagues, and organizing the administration of the local program (i.e. timelines, format, and structure of the ongoing, weekly competitions). In addition, this role works collaboratively with local, volunteer committees to improve tennis access and foster participation growth.
Responsibilities
  • Work collaboratively with Local League Coordinators and Section Staff.
  • Utilize data and reports to assist in data informed decisions that further the success of the programs.
  • Minimum qualifications: Must live in Western Massachusetts. Must be able to work some flexible hours including evenings and weekends. Full vaccination against COVID-19 required as a condition of employment. Reasonable accommodations will be considered based on qualifying exemptions.
  • Virtual Interview - will be conducted by a multi-person panel, including the hiring manager and Director, USTA Leagues via Google Meet. Interviews are approximately 45 minutes to one hour.

  • Conduct virtual or in-person meetings with team captains, as necessary.

  • Verify program & player eligibility, site availability, and compliance with organizational policies, procedures and regulations.

  • Act as point of contact for all customer service needs in relation to the programs. Resolve conflicts that may arise. Communicate any escalated issues to supervisor.

  • Monitor program platform to ensure compliance with local regulations and communicate & correct any violations in a timely manner.
  • Familiarize and communicate local league information to participants accurately.
  • Assist interested players in getting connected to teams and facilitate new team generation when pockets of players of similar rating level and eligibility level exist.
  • Coordinate buy-in from partners, players, facilities and other key stakeholders in a way that drives program success and mission impact.
  • Assist in development of new programs to encourage unique and total participation growth.
  • Coordinate and attend meetings (virtual or in person) with volunteer committees and team leads (captains), potential players, community members, teaching professionals, facilities, and other tennis providers to promote recreational adult league tennis.
  • Build relationships with partner providers and facilities that support the growth of tennis in alignment with the organization’s strategic plan and department goals.
  • Administer adult recreational tennis leagues (USTA League) in Western MA communities to ensure successful coordination, delivery and retention of the program and its participants. This includes but is not limited to:

  • Who does this position work with? The coordinator position will report to Laura Joslin-King, USTA League Manager. The coordinator will also work with staff members from other departments within the organization.

  • Coordinate new programs and initiatives that encourage participation growth within the program. This includes but is not limited to:

  • How much does this position pay? Position is non-exempt and paid $21.00 per hour.
  • Final Interview - will be conducted by the Chief Executive Officer and Head of Diversity, Equity & Inclusion.
  • Communicate and confirm team participation in post-season play.

  • How many hours does this position work? The schedule for this position is remote flexible but must be done in coordination with supervisor. This position may require some weekend work. This position is a part-time non-exempt position that works up to 15 hours per week.
