Job Description
Job Summary:
The Apprentice Licensed Nurse Assistant will complete the 144-hour RTI/Education curriculum and complete 2000 hours of On-The-Job Training. The Apprentice LNA will complete the NH Licensed Nursing Assistant examination for licensure upon completion of the curriculum. At that time, the LNA will participate for a period of one year, or 2000 clinical hours (whichever is greater), and transition to the job title of Licensed Nursing Assistant. The Apprentice LNA will receive a base rate hourly wage at hire and through the education component of the program; upon licensure and completion of the clinical apprentice hours, the employee will transition to the pay scale for an LNA and will receive a pay increase.
Once licensed, the LNA will ensure efficient direct patient care for both adult and pediatric patients as assigned by licensed nursing staff. Duties will include but are not limited to activities of daily living, vital signs, Intake Output, ambulating patients, charting on flow sheets, and transportation. She/ he demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served. The LNA must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development of the life span and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his or her age, and specific needs, and to provide the care needed as described in the unit's departmental policies and procedures
Essential Qualifications: Must be at least 18 years of age, with a high school diploma or GED. Must obtain an LNA license within one month of course completion and BLS certification within one month of hire. Must be proficient in English speaking and writing skills and have good communication skills to be able to communicate to patients and their family members.
