Job description

Cornerstone Building Brands is seeking an enthusiastic, hard-working, and skilled Litigation and Legal Operations Paralegal to join the legal team which also includes Risk Management, Compliance, and ESG. We are seeking a professional with an executive presence to help ensure our team is best in class. This person must be service-oriented, great at multi-tasking and a problem-solver.

This role will be a hybrid position in our Cary, NC office.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide administrative support to members of Legal department (i.e., scheduling, travel)
  • Initiate and manage litigation holds for formal demands, administrative agency charges and litigation
  • Ability to balance and prioritize multiple time-sensitive tasks, and manage competing priorities effectively and independently, including driving results and delivering to deadlines and budgets
  • Assist with processing notices of claims and service of legal process
  • Review case budgets with attorneys and monitor budget against actual spend by matter
  • Maintain a database to track matters and prepare necessary reporting
  • Identifying opportunities for automated processes and policies and strategically use service providers to drive efficiency (while still reducing outside counsel costs)
  • Be responsible for implementing internal processes that result in improvements and efficiencies to litigation management and outside counsel management
  • Run reports as needed to support auditors and legal operations
  • The position will also help develop a Legal Department technology roadmap and will lead current and future Legal technology initiatives — all with an eye toward creating and optimizing processes and practices to improve the day-to-day effectiveness of the Legal Department, control costs, and increase efficiencies within the department and with teams across the company
  • Assist attorneys with file maintenance, case management plans, docket calendaring, invoice and check processing and routine communications with internal clients and outside counsel
  • Take an active role in matter intake by identifying relevant witnesses and gathering necessary documents
  • Work with Risk Management to ensure claims and litigation are properly noticed to the TPA and carrier and assist with providing them updates as needed
  • Assist with overflow projects and responsibilities in the Legal Department as needed
  • Assist with planning quarterly legal meetings which may include agenda planning, food and travel reservations and other tasks as needed
  • Provide litigation support to attorneys handling a wide range of litigation, administrative and arbitration matters
  • In partnership with other professionals in the Legal Department and throughout the company you will help develop information management and communication systems, legal content and engagement strategies to support all aspects of Cornerstone’s internal operations and support for its workforce

Qualifications


  • Experience with claims preferred but not required
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Programs, Teams, and Adobe Pro
  • Salary is commensurate with experience.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Detail-oriented; ability to review and understand accounting or financial information
  • 5+ years’ prior experience in a corporate setting
