Linux Server Administrator Manager

About the Role

As a Linux Server Administrator Manager you'll play an integral role in supporting the company's technology operations and processes. You will supervise a team and partner with internal technology groups to repair critical systems to ensure that they are operational and productive. This role includes on-call duties on a rotational basis to investigate, troubleshoot, and remediate outages with other technical teams.

Responsibilities

  • Supervising a team of Linux Server Administrators, including providing technical and company policy guidance, scheduling on-call rotations, completing performance reviews and administering disciplinary action as needed.
  • Communicating effectively using Office 365-based email, Teams, and phone calls.
  • Understanding of servers, the Linux operating system, and other related technologies to maintain and repair systems in a primarily VMware-based technology infrastructure.
  • Utilizing a ticketing system to assign urgent tasks to technicians and perform tickets on your own, independently.
  • Collaborating with database administrators, network administrators, storage technicians, and others to improve and remediate errors and outages.

Requirements

  • Able to effectively communicate with peers, supervised employees, and others who may be in non-technical roles.
  • General understanding of SMTP, HTTP(S), FTP, SFTP, IMAP, POP, CIFS, and NFS.
  • 3+ years of experience working in, and performing troubleshooting with, a VMware vSphere hypervisor environment.
  • General understanding of networking (TCP/IP stack, switches, firewalls and routers).
  • Able to smoothly integrate into a team of peers and collaborate.
  • Provide support on rotational on-call basis, including occasional night/weekend
  • General understanding of network attached storage and storage area network storage systems.
  • 5+ years of demonstrated experience in Linux Systems Administration (including Red Hat Enterprise Linux and SUSE) and server troubleshooting, including operating system configuration, network settings, disk issues, CPU contingency, and memory issues.
  • 5+ years of experience working with Linux shell and bash/sh shell commands and scripting, native editors (vi, nano, etc).
  • 2+ year of experience with enterprise ticketing system used for work assignment and tracking
  • Understand enterprise computing technologies such as enterprise storage, VDI, proxy, antivirus, and other commonly deployed systems in enterprise business environments.
  • Able to operate on long-term tasks without constant supervision and remain calm and methodical during periods of elevated stress

For this position, actual salaries will vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors including but not limited to location, experience, and performance. In addition to base pay, this position, based on business need, may be eligible for a bonus or incentive. The estimated salary range for this role is $ 73,920 - 96,000
