Job Description

:

Position Overview: As a Linen Keeper on a cruise ship, you will be responsible for managing the inventory, distribution, and maintenance of linens and towels used onboard. Your role is essential in ensuring an adequate supply of clean and quality linens for guest cabins, public areas, and crew facilities. Your attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to work in a fast-paced environment will contribute to the smooth operation of the ship's linen management system.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure that all linens meet established quality standards in terms of cleanliness, appearance, and functionality.
  • Team Collaboration:

    • Work closely with the Housekeeping, Laundry, and Procurement departments to ensure efficient linen management.
    • Communicate effectively with colleagues and supervisors to address any linen-related issues or needs.
    • Provide training and guidance to new linen management team members as required.
  • Monitor and track the return of used linens for laundering.
  • Implement and maintain quality control procedures to minimize linen-related issues.
  • Linen Distribution:

    • Ensure timely distribution of clean linens to designated areas onboard, including guest cabins, public spaces, and crew facilities.
    • Coordinate with the Housekeeping team to ensure linens are available as per schedule and demand.
    • Monitor and track the return of used linens for laundering.
  • Collaborate with the Housekeeping team to address any quality concerns and provide feedback to the laundry department.
  • Quality Control:

    • Ensure that all linens meet established quality standards in terms of cleanliness, appearance, and functionality.
    • Collaborate with the Housekeeping team to address any quality concerns and provide feedback to the laundry department.
    • Implement and maintain quality control procedures to minimize linen-related issues.
  • Inspect linens for damage, stains, or excessive wear and separate items for repair or replacement.
  • Safety and Security:

    • Comply with all safety and security procedures and guidelines related to linen management.
    • Report any safety hazards or incidents to the appropriate personnel.
    • Participate in safety drills and training as required.

    • Receive, inspect, and organize incoming linen deliveries.
    • Conduct regular stock takes to reconcile inventory levels and identify any discrepancies.
    • Collaborate with the Housekeeping department to forecast linen requirements and coordinate orders.

Qualifications:

  • Good communication and teamwork skills.
  • Previous experience in linen management or inventory control is preferred.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines.
  • Basic computer skills for maintaining inventory records
  • Knowledge of linen care and maintenance practices.
  • Attention to detail and ability to identify and resolve linen-related issues.
  • Physical stamina to handle and transport linens, including lifting and moving heavy bags.
  • Strong organizational and record-keeping skills.
