Light Equipment Operator Jobs

The City of Brewer, Maine is seeking a highly motivated, team-oriented individual to fill the position of Light Equipment Operator with the Brewer Public Works Department. This is a dynamic and versatile department responsible for much of the city's infrastructure including the maintenance and construction of streets, sidewalks, storm water, and sewer systems. Experience with operating a variety of light equipment, such as a backhoe, skid steer, compactors; working on construction type projects for road reconstruction, water and sewer line installation, installation of sidewalks, catch basins, manholes and other masonry type work, as well as snow removal operations is desirable. Should be able to work independently, as well as part of a team. We are willing to provide additional training to a candidate who shows enthusiasm to learn, a desire to take initiative and responsibility, and is a motivated, self-starter. Ideal candidates will have a State of Maine Class B (CDL) operator's license, or the ability to obtain one within 6-months of hire, and a high school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent. The selected candidate must be able to successfully pass a pre-hire physical, drug screening, and background check. This is a full-time 40 hour/week position, including a comprehensive benefits package.
