Job Description

Position Title: Lifeguard

Reports To: Assistant Manager, Pool Manager

Position Summary:

Under the direction of the Assistant Manager and Pool Manager, the lifeguard position is required to supervise the members and guests of the Club to keep them safe in and around the swimming pool. They will implement all water safety policies and procedures. They will work to keep the pool area clean and conduct themselves with other employees and members in an appropriate manner. In addition, they must be able to follow and enforce all rules and club policies. They must treat each member and their guests with a warm welcome and respect.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Straightens the pool and surrounding areas at the end of the day including:
  • Monitors activity around the pool at all times.
  • Vacuums the pools; empties skimmers; skims bugs and other debris from surface when needed for daily use of the pools.
  • Performs required pool pre-opening and post-closing duties.
  • Informs the Pool Manger about member or guest disruptions that could cause a safety problem.
  • Inspects all pool safety equipment.
  • Enforces rules of conduct at the pool.
  • Places rescue tubes and ring buoy on the lifeguard chair in the morning; returns these and all swimming aids and pool toys to the lifeguard office when the pool closes.
  • Supervises and observes swimmers at all times to ensure their safety.
  • Administers first aid to swimmers' minor injuries, such as small cuts and bruises.
  • Empties towel bins throughout the shift.
  • Picking up cups, trash and towels throughout the shift.
  • Taking all lost and found items to the pool reception desk at the end of the shift.
  • Ensures chairs are orderly and cleans up soiled towels and trash on the pool deck and surrounding areas.
  • Performs other appropriate tasks assigned by the Operations Director, Assistant Manager or Pool Manager.
  • Assists with the set up and execution of delegeated tasks during Swim Meets.
  • Maintains all the necessary records determined by the Pool Manager.
