Job Duties:

A $3,000 hiring bonus is being offered for this position. Hiring bonuses shall only be for new hires of original employment or reemployment as defined in Human Resources Policy No. 5.0.

  • $1,250 will be awarded upon completion of the employee’s one (1) year probationary period and a performance evaluation with an overall rating of “Meets Expectations”.
  • $750 will be awarded in the first paycheck.
  • $1,000 will be awarded upon completion of the six (6) month interim performance evaluation with an overall rating of “Meets Expectations”.

The City of Virginia Beach Department of Human Services is seeking to hire multiple Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNS) who have experience with ICF/Group Home Nursing and Long-Term care for various Intermediate Care Facilities (ICFs) to work with adults with physical and/or intellectual disabilities in our Developmental Disabilities Division.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for contributing to the biological, psychological and social assessment of clients.
  • Assist with the development and implementation of health related components of the Individual Program Plan (IPP).
  • Within the scope of practice the nurse provides technical support to non-licensed staff regarding health care services and medication administration.
  • Collaborate with members of the Interdisciplinary Team (IDT) and other health care professionals in the community.
  • At the direction of the Registered Nurse (RN) Supervisor the LPN, within the scope of their practice, will assess, implement and evaluate the individual’s healthcare needs for all acute and chronic healthcare conditions.
  • May be required to participate in training's, meetings and participate in community engagements to further support the individuals residing in the ICF.
  • Communicate in an effective, respectful, professional manner using methods easily understood by all parties involved

This recruitment will be used to fill multiple full-time vacancies for evening shifts at various Intermediate Care Facilities.

Minimum Requirements:

MINIMUMS: Possession of a current and valid license issued by the State of Virginia or as a part of the Compact Designation (Multi-State Privileges) as a Licensed Practical Nurse and one or more years of experience as a Licensed Practical Nurse to be specified by the hiring department. Current CPR certification. Must have a current and valid driver’s license. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: All employees may be expected to work hours in excess of their normally scheduled hours in response to short-term department needs and/or City-wide emergencies.

Preferences:

One (1) or more years experience as a licensed LPN
