General Responsibilities
The Academic Engagement Team is seeking a Library Circulation Clerk to join the team. This position is responsible for working at the HCC Library as scheduled. Provide customer service to students, staff, and faculty of HCC. Uphold and administer Library and college policies. Resolve issues as they may arise and communicate effectively with other staff and supervisors. Work under the direction of the User Experience Librarian and Circulation and Access Services Manager to provide the optimal Library experience for users. This is an on-campus/non-telework position.

Work Performed
  • Assist patrons with checking-in, checking-out, and placing holds for library materials
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • Perform opening and closing procedures
  • Provide basic computer and technology assistance for printing, scanning, copying, saving, downloading, and uploading.
  • Monitor noise levels and guide users to appropriate areas
  • Support the usage and reservation of study rooms
  • Utilize the library’s catalog and databases to locate and retrieve books and resources
  • Handle fines and fees accurately
  • Shelve and edge material
  • Answer patron questions and direct them to Library and college campus resources/services

Other Knowledge Required
  • Fine motor skills for operation of computer terminals
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Previous work experience in a library setting, preferred
  • Ability to stand for extended periods
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality
  • Flexible
  • Ability to lift and push up to 50 pounds and bend
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
