Grass Lake Branch


20 Hours/week


SALARY: $12.02/HR


REPORTS TO: Branch Manager

Summary


Jackson District Library is looking for a Library Assistant for our Grass Lake Branch. The ideal candidate will enjoy performing a variety of clerical duties, appreciate teamwork, take pride in providing prompt and friendly service to customers of all ages, and have a passion for serving the Jackson community.


Duties & Responsibilities


  • Contributes to the overall effectiveness of the branch/department and the library system
  • Performs other reasonably related duties as may be assigned by the immediate supervisor and other management as required
  • May be responsible for department's operation when supervisor is absent
  • Serves the public through personal and telephone contact, providing materials, information and other services available through the branch/department
  • Assists with programming, displays, presentations, story hours, and other public relations efforts
  • Responsible for knowing and following system procedures and policies


Qualifications


  • Ability to meet and deal with the public in a pleasant, enthusiastic manner
  • Willingness to work day, evening, Saturday and Sunday work schedules
  • Ability to sort and file materials alphabetically and numerically
  • Possession of a high school diploma or GED and specialized training such as that acquired in one year of college, technical, vocational, or trade school
  • Ability to do routine and repetitive work for long periods of time
  • Ability to establish and maintain a good working relationship with fellow employees as well as with the public
  • Ability to calculate and compile simple statistical data
  • Basic familiarity with library operations desirable
  • Ability to organize personal work responsibilities with minimal supervision
  • Ability to lift, push, and pull 15 pounds or more as designated
