Job Description
Job Responsibilities


Under the supervision of the Library Director, the Library Aide serves all patrons who visit the library. This employee is responsible for shelving materials, maintaining order in the book stacks, shelf-reading library books, and providing excellent customer service at the library’s circulation desk.


Duties And Responsibilities


  • Responsible for understanding the library’s services including all online services that the library offers as well as providing basic assistance to patrons using any of these services.
  • Assist with other library duties as needed.
  • Responsible for checking in and out materials to patrons, answering phones, providing basic assistance, answering directional questions, and assisting patrons with using the computers and photocopiers.
  • Responsible for performing normal circulation duties during the afternoon & evening hours (4-8PM) while classes are in session. Responsible for closing the library on weekdays (Monday-Thursday)
  • Responsible for shelving materials according to the Library of Congress call number classification, maintaining shelved materials in call number order, helping keep the library space neat, and communicating policies to patrons as needed.


Minimum And Additional Requirements


A high school diploma required.
