Job Description

The Department of Philosophy at Smith College invites applications for a 3-year, benefits eligible position at the rank of Lecturer to begin July 1, 2023. We would like the successful applicant to teach courses in Philosophy of Mind, Philosophy of Language, Aesthetics, or Epistemology. Our department is committed to teaching in multiple philosophical traditions. Therefore, we actively seek candidates who can teach non-European as well as European philosophy, and candidates who can teach material in Buddhist philosophy, Indian philosophy, Africana philosophy, Chinese philosophy, or Native American and indigenous philosophy. Ph.D. in Philosophy or a relevant field is expected by the time of appointment. Candidates from groups underrepresented in Philosophy are encouraged to apply.
