The successful applicant will be prepared to teach courses across multiple areas of departmental focus, including: acting, directing, devising, movement, voice, script analysis, dramaturgy, applied theater, dramatic literature, theater history; and be prepared to take on leadership roles within the department depending on qualifications and expertise. Ability and willingness to teach on both undergraduate and graduate levels is preferred. Additionally, the position will collaborate with faculty to provide vital individual student advisement and mentorship; continue efforts to decolonize the curriculum and diversify course offerings, support recruitment efforts, and contribute to department and college service and committee work. The preferred candidate should demonstrate facility with culturally responsive approaches to the craft and practice of theater, prioritize the creation of inclusive learning environments, and actively support collaboration across disciplines. Expertise in an underrepresented area of study within the department (Black, Asian/Pacific Islander, Indigenous, Latinx, LGBTQIA+, Disability Studies, etc.) will receive priority. Lecturers at Brooklyn College-CUNY become eligible for a Certificate of Continuous Employment (tenure) after 5 years of continuous full-time service in the title of Lecturer. Successful candidates will join a CUNY-wide cohort of new lecturers and engage in a program of ongoing pedagogical development. Final candidates must be fully vaccinated as of their first day of employment. **QUALIFICATIONS** **Minimum** + Bachelor's degree in Theater, and a minimum of five years professional experience in the field. + Prior college teaching. + Demonstrated commitments to diversity and inclusion. + Ability to teach/ attend rehearsals/ mentor students evenings, weekends, in person, and online. + Evidence of collaborative and collegial approach to work. **Preferred** + Preference will be given to applicants with an MFA or PhD in a discipline of theater (acting, directing, design, production, history, etc.) from an accredited institution. + Minimum three years of teaching experience at the college level or equivalent. + Experience teaching both graduate and undergraduate theater students + Strong organizational and administrative skills. **COMPENSATION** $69,983 - $83,764; Salary commensurate with experience and credentials.
