Job Description
Hearty Homestead is a nature based preschool with a homey aura. Our program is based out of the lead teachers home with a converted garage to classroom. We focus on learning homestead and farming responsibilities, gardening, food preservation, outdoor exploration and a basic understanding of kindness, respect and patience with all living things.
We give children ample opportunity to learn, grow, explore and wander in the yard, garden, local trails, parks and beyond. Our biggest philosophy is that children learn through play. Materials for climbing, digging, creating, and testing physical and mental boundaries are aplenty.
The right candidate will have at least one year experience teaching in a toddler classroom or preschool setting. Must have knowledge of child development and experience doing developmental observations and planning and implementing an age appropriate curriculum. Must also have the skills to professionally and respectfully communicate with families and conduct parent teacher conferences.
Duties will include:
Help clean up from meal times
Assist with toileting and diaper changes
Implementation of curriculum
Activity prep
Basic monitoring
Teaching importance of kindness and respect
Guidance in nurturing emotions and regulating behaviors
Guiding children using positive discipline
Collecting child assessment data
Updating apps for parent communication (i.e photos, messaging, alerts)
Providing an inclusive, nurturing and safe environment for all children in the program.
Our program is committed to equality. We strongly encourage applications from people of color, immigrants, male-identifying educators, people with disabilities, members of the LGBTQ community, non-binary applicants and other underrepresented and historically marginalized groups.
