Job Description
A lead carpenter is a skilled worker who has knowledge of the field, can work independently, and is responsible for the wellbeing of others.
A lead carpenter reports to the project manager of a project. A lead carpenter builds projects and is responsible for many of the tasks that need to be accomplished. He or she needs to supervise a team of carpenters. The lead carpenter is responsible for ensuring that the job site is safe, that the work is properly done, and that materials are delivered on time.
Lead Carpenter Duties:
Manage work crews involved in new construction and remodel projects, ensuring proper work completion according to specification
Direct workers to perform tasks and ensure work is accomplished according to plan
Provide direction to workers on various aspects of construction
Ensure work is completed on time and within budget
Lead Carpenter Responsibilities:
Maintain on-the-job safety by ensuring compliance with building codes and OSHA standards
Maintain quality craftsmanship by ensuring alignment with jobsite specifications and standards
Maintain a clean jobsite by picking up and properly disposing of debris
Conduct and document quality assurance and safety inspections throughout the construction process

Requirements And Skills:
5+ years carpentry
Strong knowledge of building materials
Knowledge of building codes
Ability to read blueprints
Ability to work effectively in a team setting
Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations
