Job Description
Description

Qualified Candidates can expect to start at $17.81 per hour.
Additional compensation for experience and licensure/certifications up to $20.00.

Skilled operation of semi-trucks such as road tractors or shuttles (yard dogs); hauling solid waste in walking floor trailers, hauling sludge in dump trailers, or hauling leachate in tankers. Technicians may also be trained on heavy equipment such as packers, front end loaders, dozers, etc. and to operate said equipment occasionally at the transfer station or landfill.

Essential Functions

Perform daily pre/post trip inspections on equipment and vehicles, keep accurate documentation.

Adhere to the County/Division attendance policy.

Uses road tractors and/or off-road equipment as assigned.

Hauls walking floor trailers, on or off-road, for transportation of solid waste.

Uses heavy equipment to process or dispose of solid waste at a transfer station or Class I landfill.

Perform job duties in a safe and productive manner.

Completes daily logs.

Keep equipment and vehicles clean and orderly.


Additional Duties
:

Performs other related work as required.

In the event of an emergency, all employees are considered essential personnel and may be required to perform alternate duties.

Minimum Qualifications

High School Diploma/GED and two (2) years’ experience required

Must possess and maintain Florida Class A Commercial Driver’s License

Tanker endorsement preferred.

A comparable amount of education, training, or experience may be substituted for the minimum qualifications.

Additional Requirements

Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.

Ability to learn how to operate heavy equipment to include, excavator, bull dozer, front-end-loader and other similar equipment used by the Division.

All employees must attend Seminole County required trainings.

Department specific trainings per position may be required.
