Position Description


The Laboratory Technician will support CBP's Laboratories and Scientific Services (LSS) in creating pseudo-narcotics for canine law enforcement training. The candidate will also package narcotics into training aids for canine law enforcement training. The candidate will assist LSS federal personnel with the receiving, handling, producing and verifying, packaging, and shipping pseudo-narcotics and real narcotics canine training aids as well as the tracking of all aids. The Laboratory Technician will also assist LSS scientists with the quality control and verification of all training aid materials, including incoming source materials and outgoing final products.


The candidate will strictly adhere to safety protocols and SOPs, handle and prepare samples of hazardous substances, safely package and ship products, and provide input on process improvement.


Candidates must be a U.S. citizen to apply. This position is located at a government site located in the Houston, TX area. Applicants selected will be subject to a background investigation and random drug testing.


Responsibilities


  • Create pseudo and real narcotics canine training aids using established procedures.
  • Perform work in a timely fashion to meet customers' demands.
  • Prepare samples, set up instrumentation, initiate analytical protocols, and access instrumental data.
  • Contributes to After Action assessment of Production sessions and suggests and documents production process improvements in coordination with LSS leadership.

  • Safely package the canine training aids for shipping.
  • Review processes and procedures as requested and provide input/support for improvements/efficiencies (to include receiving, handling and laboratory safety, storing, packaging, shipping, inventory and documentation).


Burial Beer Co is looking for a service oriented team player to join our Back of House team at our original Asheville taproom. Residing in the South Slope District, it is fed from our production facility, barrelhouse, and taproom brewery. Our tap list and to-go offerings reflect the evolution of our inspirations with new releases weekly. Burial's taproom also houses a full-service kitchen focusing on comfortable American dishes, and the latest offerings from our VISUALS winery.


The Job


Line Cooks will be responsible for food preparation and menu execution, maintaining a clean and organized workspace and kitchen, kitchen equipment maintenance, and receiving and stocking vendor deliveries. The ability to work as a part of a team professionally and respectfully is essential. To succeed in this role, you are someone who is passionate about working with local purveyors, utilizing seasonal ingredients, has a commitment to quality and is willing to work on various side projects.

  • Report to management when issues arise

  • Receive and organize deliveries from vendors
  • Lead by example while aiding other staff members to accomplish tasks / duties
  • Make complete nightly cleaning and prep lists and communicate with management
  • Manage cleanliness of kitchen
  • Daily trash and recycling removal to dumpsters
  • Uphold standards of food quality
  • Prep and plate food according to Chef's menu specifications
  • Execute menu items
  • Work towards minimizing food and supply waste
  • Maintain professional and productive relationship with all employees of the company
  • Manage maintenance needs of kitchen equipment


Who We're Looking For


  • 21 years or older
  • Able to work nights, weekends and holidays
  • Ability to work on your feet for most of the day and lift 50 pounds at a time
  • 2+ years experience in a similar role
  • Strong organization and active listening skills
  • Ability to work well in small spaces and a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work as part of a team

  • Job Schedule: work schedule varies
  • Compensation: $20.10/hr
  • Reports To: South Slope Kitchen Manager
  • Employment Type: Full-Time, Hourly


Taproom open Mon-Thurs 12 - 10pm, Fri & Sat 12pm - 12am
