The Lab Supervisor/Clinical Laboratory Technologist requires a bachelor’s degree in medical technology or in one of the life sciences and knowledge of GCP and GLP, The Lab Manager must have good analytical judgment and the ability to work under pressure. The manager is expected to be good at problem solving. Close attention to detail is also essential for laboratory personnel because small differences or changes in test substances or numerical readouts can be crucial. Manual dexterity and normal color vision are highly desirable, and with the widespread use of automated laboratory equipment, computer skills (WORD and EXCEL) are important, as is BCLS certification.

- Prepare specimens for transfer to outside laboratories.
- Use automated equipment and computerized instruments capable of performing the processing of samples.
- Interact with outside laboratory vendors.
- Inventory, package and ship samples to other laboratories
- Participate in budgeting process for laboratory procedures in clinical trials
- Train laboratory staff on protocols to ensure protocol adherence during laboratory processing.
- Label tubes and prepare study racks. Quality check tubes and racks
- Evaluate, develop, and modify procedures, and establish and monitor programs, to ensure the accuracy of tests.
- Make cultures of body fluid and tissue samples, to determine the presence of bacteria, fungi, parasites, or other microorganisms.
- Collect and process biological specimens including blood, urine, feces according to SOPs, GCPs and study protocols.
- Maintain laboratory supplies.
- Manage and supervise clinical laboratory personnel.
- Create lab manuals based on protocol requirements for processing and shipment of samples to outside laboratories..
- Provide training to laboratory personnel on Corporate SOP’s and universal precautions.
- Maintain quality controls of assays and equipment per CLIA guidelines.
- Interact with industry and government sponsors.
- Maintain and calibrate automated analyzers, laboratory equipment, freezers, refrigerators, microscopes, and other laboratory equipment.
