Job Description

:

This position is responsible to lead the Nutrition Steward team when other leadership is not on-site while fulfilling the role of the Nutrition Steward. Resolves immediate issues regarding sanitizing procedures, workflow and rearranging staffing as needed. Escalates to manager as appropriate.
This position is responsible for dishwashing and other general housekeeping tasks to maintain the Culinary Department in a sanitary, safe, and attractive condition and to meet hospital, Health Department and Joint Commission standards.

  • Shift Details: Part-time (25 hrs/wk) Evenings. Will include rotating weekends and assigned holidays.
  • Department: Culinary Services at Intermountain Medical Center
  • Leads and maintains workflow of assigned area and ensures tasks are completed.
  • Resolves immediate issues regarding sanitizing procedures, workflow and rearranging staffing as needed. Escalates to management as appropriate.
  • Ensures the department standards for quality, sanitation, and safety are met.
  • Participates in orienting, training, and leading employees as appropriate.
  • Ensures Nutrition Steward competency.
  • Cleans and sanitizes dishes according to hospital department guidelines.
  • Gathers patient trays from hospital floors.
  • Cleans and disinfects assigned areas including dining areas using department cleaning procedures.
  • Uses cleaning chemicals properly according to Joint Commission and OSHA standards.
  • Understands procedures and properly disposes of infectious waste and trash.
  • Handles and cleans up emergency spills per department guidelines as well as to Joint Commission and OSHA standards.
  • Operates and maintains assigned equipment (e.g. commercial dishwasher) according to established procedures. Reports problems with equipment and facility in an appropriate and timely manner.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements

  • Availability to work a flexible schedule to meet the needs of the department.
  • Ability to lead in a positive and professional manner.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Demonstrates communication skills to include reading color coded labels and chemicals as well as following written and verbal directions.
  • Food Handler's Permit

Preferred Qualifications

  • ServSafe Certified
  • Experience in a leadership role

  • See and read labels, monitors, and documents.
  • Remain standing for long periods of time to perform work.
  • Climb, squat, kneel, and lift to clean equipment and reach and retrieve supplies.
  • Tolerate hot and cold extremes in temperature.
  • Operate housekeeping equipment requiring the ability to move fingers and hands.
  • Carry, push/pull, and walk while transporting supplies, and service equipment.
