About College Advising Prep:
College Advising Prep (CAP) consists of passionate advisors and educators who have invaluable experience in the education field, specifically in the areas of teaching, college admissions, educational research, as well as academic and career counseling.
CAP identifies and addresses students’ academic weaknesses, thus, building students toward a process of getting them accepted to the college of their dreams. That means understanding any existing learning gaps between their current academics and where they should be in order to be successful in college. And we have the curriculum built to increase their aptitude, skills, and self-confidence.
We are a full-fledged service organization that is dedicated to helping a student go in the direction he or she ultimately wants to go!
We are hiring credentialed and/or experienced teachers to join our team of experienced and passionate educators. You must have at least two years of experience teaching grades K-8. Experience in teaching or tutoring K-8 students in topics across educational environments. The ideal candidate for this position will have a B.A./B.S. in a relevant field (master’s preferred).
The ideal candidate will teach a variety of courses and differentiate instruction for learners at all levels.
You will be asked to lead a student learning community (SLC) either online, or off-site (in-home or at one of our partner's organization's locations) or meet with students one-on-one in their home. SLC is a learning community of up to 15 students. Office located in San Carlos, with the majority of teaching occurring in the Redwood City, Menlo Park, and Los Altos areas. Hybrid teaching, with both online and in-person instruction.
This position offers approximately 40 hours per week with opportunities for increased working hours, if interested. The workday will be Monday - Friday, 10-7 pm with additional hours as requested and/or if desired.

Responsibilities
- Be open to constructive criticism and feedback on teaching methodologies
- Communicate effectively with students, families, and the founder,
- Implementing developmentally appropriate activities for the age group
- Assume a high level of personal responsibility for the progress of all students
- Teach engaging, rigorous, and relevant lessons daily
- Assume a high level of personal responsibility for the students
- Create curriculum and lesson plans that meet the needs of the students
- Respond to the needs of the families and students
Professional Qualifications:
Teachers applying for this position are required to have, at minimum:
- The ideal candidate for this position will have at least two years of experience teaching K-8 and a B.A./B.S. in a relevant field (master’s preferred)
- Understand how to facilitate a positive learning environment
- Must have a strong passion for teaching, enjoy working with K-8 students, possess the emotional acuity and personality to inspire and engage kids, and maintain an excellent sense of humor.
- California Teaching or Child Development Permit, or demonstrated current eligibility to obtain a permit
- Must be able to create a fun yet engaging curriculum
While not required for consideration, we would prefer candidates to have:
- 2 years experience as Lead Teacher in a classroom
- AA or BA in Education, Child Development, Psychology, Education, or a directly related field
