Job Description

GovCIO is seeking the next generation of content creators to serve as Junior Solution Architects/Technical Proposal Writers within our Growth Enablement Team. The Junior Solution Architect will learn from and work alongside experienced solution architects, SMEs, and technologists to define, design, and capture technical solutions and approaches in compelling graphics and storylines. Other responsibilities include:

  • Adhering to the application of proposal best practices
  • Supporting the solicitation response with writing and graphics
  • Continuously researching and learning new technologies and processes
  • Iteratively reviewing content
  • Serving as a member of the opportunity response team and partnering with Capture Managers to hone win strategies and articulate the ‘why us' story
  • Partnering with experienced solution architects, technical experts, and customer domain SMEs to support solutioning activities, resulting in differentiated, well-articulated solutions that address customer pain points

Qualifications

The ideal candidate for this role is part writer, part thinker, part artist, and part aspiring technologist. For this role, the individual must:

  • Possess a Bachelor's degree and 5-8 years of work experience
  • Have both the desire and ability to iteratively write and review content, while constantly improving style, technique, and voice.
  • Have a demonstrated background in at least one IT discipline (e.g., digital services, software development, IT infrastructure, cyber security, data analytics, cloud technologies)
  • Be a US Citizen

Qualities and Characteristics

Junior Solution Architects should have incurable intellectual curiosity about government, technology, modernization, program management, leadership, communications, and other disciplines that are necessary in delivering value to customers. We don't expect the right candidate to come with extensive experience in government proposals, rather we expect the right candidate to come with a desire to continuously improve their contributions to growth efforts. Junior Solution Architects at GovCIO need to possess the following qualities:

  • The ability to conceptualize graphics to convey key solution concepts, graphically depicting process, relationships, dependencies, technologies, benefits, features, and other concepts that tie solutions to problems
  • The willingness to learn what's critical for an opportunity, conducting external research on technologies, companies, Government agencies, budgets, and programs and internal research on projects, people, efforts, strengths, and weaknesses
  • Humility and the ability to understand that your idea is not always the best idea
  • Perseverance to see a challenging effort, involving a significant portion of time dedicated to technical proposal writing, through to completion
  • The ability to apply critical thinking across an opportunity lifecycle – reading an RFP, understanding what a customer is looking for, conceptualizing how a response would address the customer's requirements, while expounding on GovCIO's strengths and differentiators
  • An interest in collaborating and working with a broad range of talented people (e.g., executives, technologists, industry specialists, graphics artists, writers, and consultants) to achieve a common operational understanding and solution, taking loosely formed thoughts and crafting them into crisply worded, persuasive arguments
  • Ability to absorb and respond to critique and continuously iterate, improve, refine, review, and hone approaches regardless of the discipline, technology, or requirements of those sections
  • Tolerance for unique perspectives and feedback, along with the ability to combine them and make a product better
  • The sense of urgency, critical thinking, and personal commitment required to succeed in a demanding environment where high-quality, winning proposals are the expectation
