Job Description

Belgium (Wallonia/Brussels Foreign Trade and Investment Agency) in Houston is looking for an efficient, dynamic and enthusiastic Junior Investment Officer to reinforce its office.

This position will be open from September 1st, 2023 and interview will be carry out late August 2023.

Main sectors of activities covered by the office: Energy (oil, gas, electricity), Petrochemistry, Agriculture, Aerospace and Aeronautics, Lifestyle (Sports equipment, housing, decoration), Printing, Construction (Materials, Smart Home & Smart Buildings), Textile, Naval Industry, Cleantech.

States covered by the office: Alabama, South Carolina, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Mississippi, Tennessee, Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Louisiana, New-Mexico, Colorado and Kansas. Other States can also be covered via the sectors of activities above.

About Wallonia/Brussels Foreign Trade and Investment Agency is part of a worldwide network (80 offices and HQ in Brussels, Belgium) and is dedicated to the promotion of Belgium (Wallonia/Brussels) trade and investment. The office has two objectives:

·Support Belgian enterprises, in particular small and medium-size enterprises (SMEs), in their orientation and approach to the US market.

·Promote Wallonia-Belgium as prime choice for US investor.

Our office is under the Supervision of The Embassy of Belgium in Washington and is composed of a Trade and Investment Counsellor in Houston, a Senior Trade Officer (based in Atlanta) and several trainees yearly. The office can also count on the support and collaborative work of our dense world networks including our offices in Washington, San Francisco, New York and Chicago.

Main roles to play:

·Support Belgium-Wallonia companies in organizing their business trip to the US.

·Study the market and approach potential business partners for Belgian companies.

·Market studies and Tendency observatory in specific sectors.

·Organize seminars, trade shows and webinars to promote Belgium.

·Prepare files for Business Days and Diplomatic Days in Belgium.

·Assist in the organization of visiting official and trade delegation coming to the area.

·Analyze invitation for tenders interesting for Belgian companies.

·Promote Belgium as an investment destination and identify potential investors to Belgium.

·Grow and maintain a network of contacts in our area with Chambers of commerce, business associations, universities and research centers, Top companies

·Manage the database through Salesforce and the communication through social networks.

·Help in Administrative tasks necessary for the smooth running of the office.

·During absence of the Trade and Investment Counsellor, guarantee the continuity of the office and its activities.

The Junior Investment Officer will be responsible for organizing and facilitating meetings and events related to investor engagement for our state agency. This task is crucial as it will allow the Project Manager to strengthen relationships with potential investors, present investment opportunities, and promote our agency to key stakeholders.

The Junior Investment Officer will need to work closely with team members to ensure that all meetings and events are planned, organized, and executed successfully. This includes managing the entire process from the initial invitation to the preparation of the presentation, as well as managing follow-ups and reports.

The Junior Investment Officer should be capable of understanding the needs and expectations of different types of investors or business prospects and adapt accordingly to provide them with a personalized and professional experience. The success of these meetings and events will largely be measured by the Project Manager's ability to secure investment commitments and establish long-term trust relationships with investors.

The Junior Investment Officer needs to be able to work with multilingual and multicultural teams to organize events in different languages and cultural contexts. Proficient speaking and writing skills in English is required. French and Spanish would be an added value but is not an absolute necessity.

Ability to adapt to changing priorities and requirements in a fast-paced environment.

Demonstrated commitment to quality and continuous improvement, with a focus on delivering measurable outcomes and results.

In summary, The Junior Investment Officer’s ability to effectively organize and facilitate meetings and events related to investor engagement will be a key element of their success in this role and will be crucial to the success of our agency in investor research in Belgium and business development in US.

Qualifications and requirements:

·Bachelor's or Master's degree in Business Administration, Finance, or a related field, with a minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience.

·Ready to learn the local investment landscape in Belgium, including key players, trends, and emerging opportunities.

·Knowledge of the local and regional economy for our geographical and sectorial areas.

·Minimum of 3 relevant work experience, in a role with an international focus.

·Strong social, networking and communicative skills.

·Flexibility including in some occasional travelling in US and Belgium.

·Pro-activity and service orientated.

·Demonstrated experience in project management, particularly in the context of investor research and engagement.

·Strong analytical and research skills, with the ability to identify potential investors and evaluate investment opportunities.

·Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to establish and maintain relationships with investors, stakeholders, and team members.

·Proven ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring on-time delivery of quality work products.

·Experience working with public agencies and government entities, including knowledge of regulations and procedures related to government contracts and grants.

·Familiarity with relevant databases, software, and tools, including social medias, for investor and business partners research and management.

·Proven ability to work independently and as part of a team, with strong collaboration skills.

·Experience in organizing and facilitating meetings and events related to investor engagement or business partnerships.
