Athena is looking for a Junior Designer to join our Creative Agency.

The Visual Design Team within our Creative Group produces thoughtful and elevated creative to represent a Fortune 30 brand across different mediums. We create compelling graphics and branded material which is displayed across the organization’s owned and paid channels including but not limited to social media, website, reports and fact sheets, press materials, and presentations. Our work has a digital focus, but print projects are a part of the mix.

The Junior Designer, Social should be highly creative with a passion for social media. This person should possess the ability to translate interesting and often complex ideas to life across audience segments and social platforms. And while their focus will be on social media, we see the role as broader - supporting our Visual Design Team end to end in a highly collaborative environment.

This role will collaborate with Art Directors, Copywriters and Designers in a fast pace, hands-on environment.

Our ideal candidate has the following:

• Communicate with clients and colleagues about layout and design
• Strong understanding of composition, with an eye for detail while following brand guidelines
• Ability to work quickly in a fast-paced newsroom environment with multiple daily deadlines
• Contribute to team efforts by accomplishing assigned tasks
• Coordinate with outside agencies, web designers, marketing teams, printers, and
• Conceive and execute social media campaigns in tandem with strategic objectives
• Deliver quality work on time and under firm deadlines
• Other vendors as necessary
• Strong verbal and written communication skills in the English language
• Create wide range of graphics and layouts for presentations, proposals, product illustrations, branding campaigns, advertisements, and other client deliverables
• Thorough knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite, working knowledge of Figma, and proficiency in photo editing/colorizing.
• Prepare finished art by operating necessary equipment and software
• Strong understanding of composition, with an eye for detail while following brand guidelines
• Strong portfolio that shows range, with examples of excellent photo editing, layout design, and creative branding work
• Work independently with minimal supervision
• Communicate with colleagues about design challenges and solutions
• Additional or developing design skills (e.g., animation, coding, etc.) are a plus
• Conceive and execute design concepts by studying relevant materials
• Process complicated design challenges quickly and efficiently
• Deep understanding and expertise across social platforms. Demonstrated ability to produce platform specific content.
• Take direction on design work and suggest improvements when situation demands

Requirements

And should have the following experience and skills:

• Bachelor's degree in graphic design, visual communications, or a related field.
• Highly motivated, self-starter, with a conceptual mind
• Demonstrates attention to detail, personal organization, and interpersonal skills
• Solid organization and time management skills
• Desire to work in a fast paced, innovative, and collaborative environment
