Junior Data Scientist
Contract-to-hire (3-6 months)
100% onsite
Our Fortune 500 partner in the South Charlotte area is looking to add a Junior Data Scientist to their growing team. As a Data Scientist, you will be an integral part of our data science and analytics team, assisting in the analysis, interpretation, and visualization of data to support data-driven decision-making processes. You will work closely with senior data scientists and cross-functional teams to develop and implement data-driven solutions for various business challenges.
Responsibilities:
- Problem Solving: Collaborate with team members to identify and define data science problems and propose potential solutions.
- Communication: Communicate complex technical concepts and analysis results to non-technical stakeholders effectively.
- Statistical Analysis: Apply basic statistical techniques and methods to extract insights and patterns from data.
- Machine Learning: Develop an understanding of machine learning algorithms and assist in building predictive models.
- Documentation: Maintain thorough documentation of the data analysis process and outcomes.
- Data Analysis: Collect, clean, and preprocess data from various sources to ensure its accuracy and usability for analysis.
Requirements:
- Analytical Mindset: Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to think critically about data-related challenges.
- Team Player: Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment. This time interfaces with many groups across the org, so collaboration and communication are a large aspect of this role.
- Programming Skills: Proficiency in SQL. Python is also a plus, but not neccesary in the day to day of this role.
- Machine Learning: Basic understanding of machine learning algorithms and their applications.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to present findings to diverse audiences.
- Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related field.
- Learning Attitude: A passion for continuous learning and professional development in the field of data science.
- Statistics and Mathematics: Basic knowledge of statistical concepts and mathematical foundations relevant to data science.
