Job Description

The Position

We currently have an opening for a Journey Pipefitter based out of our location in Port Townsend, Washington.


As a journey pipefitter, you will layout, fit up, assemble and maintain all types of pipe systems, pipe supports, and related hydraulic or pneumatic equipment to include steam, hot water heating, cooling, lubricating, sprinkling, and industrial production and processing systems and hazardous piping.

Job Responsibilities

  • Measure and mark pipes for cutting and threading. Layout, fit up, assemble, and maintain all types of pipe systems, pipe supports, and related hydraulic or pneumatic equipment to include steam, hot water heating, cooling, lubricating, sprinkling, and industrial production and processing systems, and hazardous piping.
  • Perform inspections & preventive maintenance tasks.
  • Assemble and secure pipes, tubes, fittings, and related equipment according to specifications by welding, brazing, cementing, soldering, and threading.
  • Layout full-scale drawings or pipe systems and related equipment following blueprints.
  • Attach pipes to walls and structures.
  • Installation of new & rebuilt equipment.
  • Able to perform 6G quality Welds.
  • Plan pipe system layout installation or repair according to specifications.
  • Inspect and examine and test installed systems and pipelines.
  • Troubleshoot mill systems & equipment as needed.
  • Perform maintenance on mill equipment as scheduled.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Journey level skills in the craft.
  • Equipment specific knowledge.
  • Proper handling procedures for chemical common to pulp & paper process.
  • A basic level of skills in processes that may be outside of the primary craft’s core competency including welding, cutting, machining, metal working, computer operation, fitting, rigging and other skills common to maintenance activities.
  • Ability to work and communicate within a small work team.


Required Experience

  • 5 years Journey Pipefitter or equivalent experience.


Required Education

  • High school graduate or equivalent to (GED).
  • Completed apprenticeship program in craft line or equivalent experience.


Desired qualifications

  • Pulp maintenance preferred.


Work Schedule, and Environment

  • Typical schedule is Monday – Friday from 7:00 am - 3:30 pm.
