Janitor: Part-Time Jobs

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Clean building floors by sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, or vacuuming them
• Request supplies and equipment needed for cleaning and maintenance duties
• Clean windows, glass partitions, and mirrors, using soapy water or other cleaners, sponges, and squeegees
• Gather and empty trash
• Notify managers concerning the need for major repairs or additions to building operating systems
• Dust furniture, walls, office machines, and equipment
• Performs other duties as assigned
• Clean and polish furniture and fixtures
• Follow procedures for the use of chemicals and power equipment, in order to prevent damage to floors and fixtures
• Mix water and detergents or acids in containers to prepare cleaning solutions, according to specifications
• Monitor building security and safety by performing such tasks as locking doors after operating hours and checking electrical appliance use to ensure that hazards are not created
• Change burnt out light bulbs
• Service, clean, and supply restrooms

Required Skills:

• High school diploma or GED preferred
• Must be able to do physical work and operate required equipment
• Ability to read and interpret written information
• Must observe safety and security procedures

• Must have a positive mental attitude, self-motivated and positive
• Must be able to manage time efficiently and work individually
• Must have good organizational skills, very detail oriented
