- Secures needed information, and documents information received. With the assistance of the unit supervisor defines the problem and identifies relevant facts.
- Maintains files on cases requiring additional information. Follows-up with charging parties/complainants, when necessary, to secure additional information.
- Obtains relevant information concerning the allegation of the potential charge/complaint and counsels the individual as to whether EEOC or some other organization has jurisdiction.
- Duties may include but are not limited to: Receives telephone calls and personal visits from individuals and their representative seeking information regarding filing charges/complaints of discrimination.
- Types a variety of materials such as memoranda, letters, charges and related documents into final form. This duty comprises approximately 25 percent of the employee's work time.
- Reviews information regarding timeliness, bases, and standing under the laws governing discrimination complaints, and reports findings to supervisor.
- This position requires a typing proficiency of at least 40 words per minute (WPM)
- May be required to successfully complete a probationary period
- Must be a U.S. Citizen or National
