Job Description
Job Responsibilities


Leads and manages a team of investigators within the Office of Investigations and Enforcement (OIE) and is responsible for conducting investigations for the Residential Builders Commission according to applicable statutes, regulations, and established Agency guidelines and procedures.


Routinely monitors the status of investigations and the quality, accuracy and timely completion of investigative reports, summaries and other documentation. Assigns cases to investigators, considering caseloads, experience and the ability to ensure the most efficient investigation of a complaint. Assists OIE and Agency leadership to implement changes and improvements within the team.


Leads the onboarding and new hire training of assigned investigators. Provides ongoing relevant training to the investigative team regarding techniques, principles, and specific professional license and standard of care subject matter training.


Investigates complex or priority investigations. Conducts routine investigations when beneficial to the team as determined by caseload, experience levels and capability. Prepares concise and accurate investigative related documentation for those investigations, maintaining custody of evidence and entering all investigative case activity. As required, serves as a witness in board disciplinary hearing or other hearings.


Prepares and submits monthly or other required reports to Agency leadership. Performs other duties as required.


Minimum And Additional Requirements


State Minimum Requirements: A high school diploma and experience conducting investigations or performing other law enforcement duties. A bachelor's degree may be substituted for the required work experience.


Position works in both an office and field environment. May require extended periods of driving and sitting and may require visiting private facilities that are non ADA compliant. May need to bend, stoop, kneel and lift up to 25lbs. Occasional work outside of normal Agency business hours. Frequent statewide travel and occasional overnight travel. Must have a valid SC Driver's License and provide a 10 year MVR that complies with State and Agency Fleet guidelines.


Preferred Qualifications


Preferred Requirements: experience managing investigations and substantive knowledge of the practice of residential builders.
