Internal Auditor (R1279) Jobs

Position:

We are seeking an Internal Auditor to join our Internal Audit team in our Nashville, TN office. The Internal Auditor will be a member of the team responsible for the testing of the design and effectiveness of the company’s internal controls over financial reporting. The individual will interact with members of management across multiple business units and operations in the North American region. There will be approximately 10-25% travel to other Sompo International office locations. The position provides a great opportunity to be part of a growing organisation, and a global internal audit function.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Supporting the VP, Internal Audit in the testing of the company’s internal controls over financial

reporting.

• Conduct detail testing, including documenting, concluding, and communicating findings.

• Evaluate the reliability and integrity of information provided by management in support of internal controls.

• Assist the VP, Internal Audit in scoping of Financial Controls.

• Maintain a working relationship with external auditors; including supporting requests for information.

• Conduct walkthroughs with management and map the existing processes identifying any gaps.

• Assist the VP, Internal Audit in developing actionable recommendations that improve operations, controls, and how the business is managed.

• Support the effective communication of observations, internal control deficiencies, and recommendations, with senior management. Prepare clear and concise written audit observations for reporting.

• Contribute to financial controls testing as required.

• Work with internal audit team members in other office locations on group-wide audits as required.

• Work collaboratively and develop strong relationships with business units and operational areas and continue to develop the organization’s appreciation for a strong internal control environment.

• Participate in data analytics initiatives within the department working with the business leaders to allow continuous monitoring.

• Complete annually a minimum of 40 hours of company sponsored training Adhere to the department policies and procedures.

• Utilize auditor judgement and professional skepticism in decision making.

Desired Skills and Experience

• BS or BA in Business, Finance, or Accounting

• 1-2 years of Internal/External audit experience with experience in insurance, reinsurance, or public accounting organizations a plus

• CPA/CIA preferred but not required

• Understanding of US GAAP and IFRS (preferred)

• Highly effective interpersonal & communication skills; ability to write clear and concise observations and reports

• Ability to develop and maintain strong relationships with management

• Well-developed ability to explain decisions to others and negotiate appropriate solutions

• Effective organization and workload management skills

• Strong attention to detail

• Strong analytical skills required

• A strong work ethic and ability to work independently or as part of a team

• Additional language capabilities (Spanish, Portuguese, and/or Japanese) desirable but not required

• Proficiency in MS Office suite and ability to learn new applications and technology at a fast pace

Pay: $80,000.00 - $116,000.00 per year
