Intern, User Experience And User Interface (Ux/Ui) Research

The SquareTrade Product UX team is looking for a UX/UI Research Intern to contribute to service experiences that make our complex logistics processes seem fast and easy. In this role, you will be able to apply user-centered design thinking principles + best practices and work closely with cross-functional teams. As a SquareTrade Intern, you will gain exposure to a Senior UX researcher and Senior UX Designers and work on projects designed to refine and improve user interface (UI) and user experience (UX) with the SquareTrade website, apps, and internal tools.

Responsibilities:

• Collect and analyze survey data
• Review best practices and include these in reports
• The internship will be virtual
• Assist with competitor research studies
• Contribute to planning and execution of usability research
• Take notes and collect data during usability test sessions
• Interns will work full-time 40 hours per week during the 10-week program
• Create and present reports on the results from research projects
• Recruit and schedule participants for usability studies

• Candidate must be a rising junior or rising senior Note: Preference will be given to candidates currently completing their junior year
• Previous work/volunteer experience or relevant coursework in identified area(s) of interest
• Deep curiosity about how how people understand and use online services and products and methods for studying their ability to use them; fascination with the interaction of people’s online experience and the UI’s they use
• Must be available to start on internship cohort start date (June 6) and complete ten week program
• Can work in the US without employment sponsorship
• Must have a minimum GPA of 2.7
• Well-organized with excellent attention to detail
• Coursework in Experimental/Research Design and basic concepts in designing and conducting experiments on how people behave
• Candidate must be currently enrolled in an undergraduate US based college or university degree program and also be enrolled for the Fall 2022 semester
• Major in a social science (Cognitive Psychology, Sociology, Anthropology) or Interaction Design, User Experience, or Computer-Human Interaction
• Must be at least 18 years old

Preferred Skills & Attributes

• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) or GSuite (Gmail, Docs, Sheets)
• Ability to work in group settings and/or independently
• Demonstrates problem-solving skills
• Coursework in graphic and/or interaction design
• Demonstrates creativity and innovation
• Hands-on experience designing and running UX research projects
• Ability to prioritize and multi-task several projects
• Experience with survey design, interviewing, and creating usability studies
• Strong written and verbal communication skills

(California Only) Pursuant to applicable law, SquareTrade estimates the possible base pay for this role, if hired in California, to be within the following range: $24-$30 per hour.
