McCaw Hall at Seattle Center boasts of being the only place to see shows by the Pacific NW Ballet and Seattle Opera as well as hosting big name concerts, comedians and even Dancing with the Stars! Choose your schedule (or sign up for our on-call list) that you are available to work, we are hiring immediately! Most shifts are evenings, weekends, holidays, with some day shifts.

Ushers (including Door Attendants and other Guest Services roles) are primarily responsible for providing excellent customer service, and participating in public safety measures before, during and after Seattle Center events and in emergency situations.

Job Responsibilities

  • Direct patrons to seat locations
  • Assist with patron egress by clearing aisles and lobbies following events
  • Available to work evenings, weekends and holidays
  • Respond to patron inquiries and complaints
  • Greet guests in a friendly, service-oriented manner
  • Notify appropriate supervisor of unresolved patron concerns, emergencies or unsafe conditions
  • Locate patrons and deliver emergency messages
  • Provide information regarding events and facilities
  • Ensure that aisles, stairways and the floors are kept clear in compliance with safety regulations

Qualifications

You will be ready to take on this role if you:
  • Possess excellent reliability and punctuality
  • Are available to work a minimum of 150 hours annually and meet attendance standards
  • Communicate respectfully and clearly
  • Are friendly and welcoming
  • Continuously demonstrate excellent customer service skills and work closely with patrons who may at times be disorderly
  • Are willing to meet established dress standards and wear a uniform as provided by Seattle Center

Work Environment/Physical Demands:
  • Frequently climb and negotiate stairs and narrow aisles
  • Must be able to stand in one location for up to 4 hours at a time
  • While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to use hands and fingers, must be able to reach with hands and arms and occasionally lift up to 15 pounds
  • Position requires hearing and vision acuity, depth perception and ability to function in low light situations

Additional Information

This is an intermittent/on-call position. Hours are dependent on event schedules at Seattle Center.

Intermittent employees begin at step 1, which is $18.56 hourly. Intermittent employees do not get salary step increases. You'll also get premium pay that increases the more hours you work. (Starts at an additional 5% on top of your base rate, up to 25%!)
