Job Description
Duties As a Technical Lead, provide technical and administrative management to both in-house and Architect-Engineer (A-E) contractor designed projects typically related to construction, maintenance, alteration, and repair, and/or special project/study. Prepares general designs, technical analyses, layouts, and computations for features of flood damage reduction, recreation facilities, operation and maintenance, coastal protection, navigation, military, and environmental restoration projects. Performs field reconnaissance and site investigations to determine the need for or scope of additional survey requests, to define site specific problems, and to determine adequate alternative solutions. Prepares text of design features to incorporate into documents such as Design Documentation Reports, Analyses of Design, Operations/Maintenance Manuals, etc. Prepares drafts of technical correspondence pertaining to design features of projects. Lead multi-disciplinary design teams including architecture, hydraulics and hydrology, civil engineering, geotechnical engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, and structural engineering. Provide administrative/ management functions such as scope and budget development, funds control, contract analysis, contract negotiation, contract administration, and project scheduling. Reviews contractor-submitted drawings for conformance with the contract plans and specifications. Makes site visits to determine if field conditions and construction are consistent with the intent of the design. Requirements Conditions of Employment Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation. Incumbent must be qualified to drive government vehicles in accordance with Corps of Engineers' standards. A valid state driver's license is required within 30 days of entrance on duty date.   • Degree: Bachelor's degree (or higher degree) in geology, plus 20 additional semester hours in any combination of mathematics, physics, chemistry, biological science, structural, chemical, civil, mining or petroleum engineering, computer science, planetary geology, comparative planetology, geophysics, meteorology, hydrology, oceanography, physical geography, marine geology, and cartography.
