DaVita is currently looking for a Senior Collection Specialist. Individuals who excel in this role are highly ambitious, results driven, and comfortable thinking "outside the box". In this role you will develop and maintain relationships with insurance companies. Acting on behalf of DaVita you will collect payment from insurance companies on outstanding patient balances, research and resolve problem accounts as needed, and maximize collections to achieve collection performance goals.


This is a fully remote position. All necessary equipment and training to be successful in this position will be provided.


Essential Functions and Responsibilities:


  • Contributes to implementation of process improvement initiatives aimed at the collections department
  • Utilizes excellent written and oral communication skills to collaborate and maintain positive working relationships with peers, leaders, clinical personnel, and payer representatives to resolve outstanding AR debit balances
  • Respond timely and accurately to payer communications
  • Identify trends and perform root cause analysis on unpaid and underpaid claims
  • Uses strong organizational skills to effectively manage large amounts of detailed information
  • Collaborate with other revenue operations teams to ensure seamless processes across teams
  • Maintain confidentiality of all company and patient information in accordance with HIPAA regulations and DaVita policies
  • Research, initiate follow-up and resolve all health care insurance claim accounts with existing debit balances
  • Address patient benefit-related denials, including phone verification of plan requirements, financial risk, as well as other factors that may impact reimbursement
  • Use critical and analytical problem solving skills to resolve issues
  • Navigate through various payer systems and multiple internal systems to ensure timely and accurate resolution of claims
  • Consistent, regular, punctual attendance as scheduled is an essential responsibility of this position


Minimum Qualifications:


  • High school diploma or GED, required
  • Ability to research and problem solve, using analytical and critical thinking skills
  • Associates or Bachelor’s degree, highly preferred
  • Experience with healthcare insurance claims is preferred
  • Intermediate computer proficiency in Microsoft Office including: Word, Excel, and Outlook is required
  • 2+ years health care and medical billing/Full Revenue Cycle experience is required

Salary/ Wage Range


$17.50 - $30.00 / hour


Compensation for the role will depend on a number of factors, including a candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies and experience and may fall outside of the range shown.
