Job Summary:


The Infrastructure Capacity team is responsible for planning, designing, monitoring, and management of utilization in the data centers, plants, and remote locations for Client. The Infrastructure Architect UX will report to the GTO organization.


An Infrastructure Architect UX is a principal technical adviser to help craft strategies to drive infrastructure technology direction across Client. The infrastructure architect will also provision solutions on-prem based upon project requirements. This role requires technical acumen and customer-facing skills to effectively represent GTO within application development teams and drive discussions with their senior leadership regarding server strategy and provide advocacy and strategic technical guidance to help plan and build solutions using best practices.


Responsibilities includes but not limited to:


· Drive strategy and decision making on technology direction

· Maintain and manage vendor relationships

· Manage, monitor, and report capacity utilization and available capacity (use of various tools including LPAR2RRD, SRM)

· Manage/coordinate the weekly capacity review - provide quality assurance and collaboration with ISA, PM & BA requests for compute and storage resources

· Review and approve compute and storage capacity requests

· Assess current Infrastructure/Architecture - determine strategy (timing, leases end, procurement, cost, project initiative, TCO) for replacement, and drive implementation

· Present to Leadership - provide justification for procurement of infrastructure for server refresh/replacement with newer technologies

· Coordinate with the Build team to effectively manage timely retirement and decommission of server/infrastructure

· Maintain role as ISA/BA/PM - creating demands, assigning SME resources, managing the demand processes beginning to end, and "promote to production”

· Develop comprehensive project plans

· Determine requirements, design layout, document and place the order with TCOM operations for the Server Networks

· Oversee Clientservice provider PMs through LPAR VM migrations from old to new technology

· Design, layout, and direct the service provider in rebalance of AIX LPAR's (VM)'s across frames utilizing Logical Partition Mobility (LPM)

· Review and adjust capacity on VM's quarterly

· Provide additional support for HCI/Nutanix/UCS/x86 capacity planning and management

· Implement cost-control strategies


Basic Requirements


Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, related disciplines or equivalent practical experience.

· 5+ years' hands-on support of business-critical IT infrastructure that includes design/admin/implementation/management. At least two of those years should be in AIX on Power 9 technologies designing and deploying enterprise solutions

· Possess a strong understanding of enterprise technology adoption.

· Proven ability to explain transformational concepts to executive decision makers and influence their technology strategy.

· Fluency with Oracle Solaris & Linux

· Strong understanding of automation and DevOps tools

· Ability to provide best practice guidance on the architectural design across multiple applications and projects of the enterprise


Preferred Requirements


· 10+ years' hands-on support of business-critical IT infrastructure that includes design/admin/implementation/management. At least three of those years should be in AIX on Power 9 technologies designing and deploying enterprise solutions

· Master's Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related disciplines

· Minimum 5 years' experience supporting UX (Unix, AIX, Linux, etc.)

· Experience in the automotive IT landscape as well as business acumen

· Proven experience in design and deployment of infrastructure to support business requirements
