Job Description

TITLE: Information Security Analyst

FULL-TIME/PART-TIME: Full-Time

SCHEDULE: Mon -Thurs - 9 hours (in-office)/Friday - 4 hours (remote)

FLSA STATUS: Salaried, Exempt

POSITION SUMMARY: The Information Security Analyst is responsible for assisting with the day-to-day operations of securing the organizations information systems. Reporting to the CIO, the Information Security Analyst is tasked with providing technical expertise in all areas of network, system, application and physical security. The Information Security Analyst will collaborate closely with various teams in the Information Technology department to ensure that systems and networks are designed, developed, deployed, and managed with an emphasis on strong, effective security and risk management controls. The Information Security Analyst will lead the vulnerability management program, IT risk management program and manage various annual cybersecurity assessments and penetration tests. The Information Security Analyst will also research and report on emerging threats to help the organization take pre-emptive risk mitigation steps. The Information Security Analyst effectively analyzes security events within the context of W&T environment utilizing such tools as MDR, EDR, VDR and various security tools to proactively detect threats and mitigate attacks before they occur.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Assesses new security technologies to determine potential value for the enterprise.
  • Work closely with Intern and External audit to facilitate compliance and internal controls testing
  • Review, investigate, and respond to real-time alerts within the environment.
  • Drive user awareness by conducting phishing, training, and other security awareness campaigns
  • Manage systems owned by the Information Security Team.
  • Conducts vulnerability assessments of firm systems and networks.
  • Collaborate with departments across the organization to ensure the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of all W&T Information Assets.
  • Proactively monitor the environment to detect and implement steps to mitigate cyber-attacks before they occur.
  • Monitor online security-related resources for new and emerging cyber threats.
  • Review real-time and historical reports for security and/or compliance violations.
  • Provides technical expertise regarding security-related concepts to operational teams within the Information Technology Department and the business.
KNOWLEDGE, EDUCAITON & EXPERIENCE:
Required
  • Working experience with the following technology vendors and products: Rapid7, Vulnerability Scanner, Defender, Bitlocker
  • Working experience with creating, implementing, and managing a threat hunting program within a corporate environment.
  • Be a proficient, analytical problem-solver that is able to work autonomously.
  • Technical knowledge configuring and securing enterprise-class technologies such as firewalls, routers, switches, wireless access points, VPNs, and desktop and server operating systems.
  • A four-year college degree or equivalent industry training and certifications.
  • Strong writing skills, as well as the ability to articulate security-related concepts to a broad range of technical and non-technical staff.
  • Demonstrated experience implementing and/or enforcing security and compliance frameworks such as NIST, Cobit, and ISO.
  • Three to five years of experience in a security analyst or related position.
  • Proficiency with Windows PowerShell.
  • Thorough understanding of Microsoft’s enterprise technology platform, including Azure, Active Directory, SQL, Office365, and the Windows server and desktop operating systems.
Desired
• One or more of the following certifications: CEH, CISM, CompTIA Security+, CISSP, CISA, GSEC • Experience with managing and securing both on-premise and hosted systems and applications.
  • Experience with application and database security.
PHYSICAL REQIREMENTS:
  • Requires prolonged sitting, some bending and stooping.
  • Manual dexterity sufficient to operate a computer keyboard and calculator.
  • Occasional lifting up to 10 pounds.
