Position Title
Information Security Analyst

Position Summary
The Information Security Analyst is responsible for day-to-day information security operations and compliance activities as a member of the Office of Digital Infrastructure, Operations & Security. Position reports to the Director of Infrastructure, Operations, and Security.
This position is considered a “Responsible Employee” under Title IX federal regulations and “Mandatory Reporter” under Texas state law and the UIW Sexual Misconduct Policy. As a Mandatory Reporter, this position requires you as the employee to promptly report any incident that you witness or receive information about Title IX violations. These reporting responsibilities are set out in the UIW Sexual Misconduct Policy.

Perform Incident Response

Description of Job Duties
  • Complete post-incident reports.
  • Respond to and remediate security incidents.
  • Update Incident Response Plan (IRP) as needed.

  • Manage the various information security systems used by UIW.

  • Manage the configuration and implementation of IAM technologies and processes used by UIW.
  • Make recommendations for improvements and changes where appropriate.

Manage Security Awareness Program

Description of Job Duties
  • Use a combination of trainings, events, and marketing to provide information security awareness to both students and employees of UIW.

Assist the Director of Infrastructure, Operations, and Security with Security Strategy and Administration

Description of Job Duties
  • Determine security strategy for the University.
  • Assess and report on risk management.
  • Track IT department audits.
  • Draft security policies and procedures.
  • Plan new security initiatives.

Qualifications

Knowledge Skills and Abilities
  • Understanding of cyber risk management.
  • Understanding of cyber incident response.
  • Understanding of vulnerability management and assessment.
  • Ability to explain cybersecurity issues in plain language to customers and leadership.
  • Employee shall adhere to all applicable rules and regulations of the University, the Conference, and the NCAA.
  • Knowledge of basic information security principles.
  • Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse communities and cultures.
  • Knowledge of IAM technologies as they relate to security (MFA, SSO, etc).

Required Education
Bachelors Degree in Information Technology discipline. Note that four (4) years of experience in an IT security position will be considered in lieu of education requirement.

Entry-level cybersecurity certification (Security+, GSIF, SSCP, etc.).
