  • ROUNDS FOR ENVIRONMENTAL SIGNS OF INFECTION PREVENTION AND CONTROL CONCERNS.: Conducts environmental rounds in all inpatient and outpatient care areas. Assesses environmental control through surveillance of water supply systems as needed, air pressure relationships fro high risk environmental monitoring.
  • PARTICIPATES IN PATIENT CARE ACTIVITIES.: Consults with physicians and others regarding infectious patients in a confidential manner. Provides patient/family counseling and education as needed. Acts as a consultant for Employee Health during employee communicable disease and exposure events and coordinates with Employee Health to follow-up with the employee.
  • EDUCATES AND INFORMS HOSPITAL STAFF AND OTHERS IN THE AREAS OF INFECTION PREVENTION AND CONTROL.: Actively participates in a variety of other hospital committees including IPAC, serving as advisor and subject matter expert.Facilitates the IPAC as necessary. Conducts New Employee Orientation and in-services for hospital employees and serves as a resource for the medical center and the community.
  • PERFORMS ADMINSTRATIVE SUPPORT DUTIES FOR THE DEPARTMENT.:Accurately prepares agenda and minutes for the Infection Prevention and Control Committee (IPAC). Applies epidemiological principles and statistical methods, including risk stratification, to identify target population, analyze trends and risk factors, and design and evaluate prevention and control strategies


Qualifications


  • Either ASCP-MLT Registration or RN License (Required)Infection Control Practitioner Certification (Preferred)State Registered Nurse License (Preferred)
  • 0 - 1 year Healthcare experience (Required)
  • 2 - 4 years Experience in detecting, preventing and correcting infection control issues (Preferred)
  • 4 year / Bachelor's Degree (Required)
  • Combination of relevant education and experience may be considered in lieu of degree.
