As an Infection Preventionist, you will be responsible for implementing, promoting, and maintaining an active infection prevention program. In our collaborative environment, you will work closely with our Senior Director of Quality to conduct surveillance and investigate activities, analyze data, educate our caregivers, and create policies.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Utilizes knowledge of microbiology, cleaning, disinfection and sterilization of patient care equipment.
  • Complies with mandates for state and federal public reporting of hospital acquired infections.
  • Coordinates the annual infection prevention risk assessment, review and evaluation of the organization's infection prevention plan. Reports communicable diseases as required by the Ohio Department of Health.
  • Provides recommendations for improvement.
  • Provides education and serves as a consultant to various levels of care providers.
  • Conducts surveillance for hospital acquired infections; analyzes data. Generates reports, identifies trends.
  • Coordinates infection prevention committee meetings and other related activities.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Develops and implements infection prevention policies and procedures.
  • Collaborates with health departments in complying with issues related to outbreaks and control of communicable diseases.
  • Conducts audits on infection prevention practices.
  • Investigates clusters of infections, outbreaks.

Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing, Microbiology or closely related field.
  • RN preferred.

Certifications:

  • (CBIC) required after two years of hire date.
  • Certification from the Certification Board of Infection Control and Epidemiology, Inc.

Work Experience:

  • Minimum of three years of experience in nursing, infection prevention or medical technology.
  • Strong communication, clinical assessment and computer skills (i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint and other related programs).

Personal Protective Equipment:

  • Follows Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required for procedures.
