Job Description
SUMMARY
The primary purpose of the Industrial Engineering role is to help drive operational excellence using data-based analysis and other Lean Manufacturing tools and principles. This role will regularly interact with the company’s three manufacturing facilities providing insight and influence at all levels within the organization. The successful candidate will have the ability to lead and manage continuous improvement projects in the areas of plant productivity and manufacturing cost reduction, be process driven, and people oriented.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include, but are not limited to the following: (other duties may be assigned)
  • Develop and maintain process documentation, including work instructions, process flow diagrams, and standard operating procedures.
  • Work collaboratively with cross functional teams to design and install new manufacturing processes that maximize efficiency and reduce wastes.
  • Facilitate Continuous Improvement events as a subject matter expert while engaging staff and others to present ideas that create improvements and solutions.
  • Lead, define, and control the scope, cost and timing of company engineering projects, plant layouts, and new equipment installations.
  • Establish appropriate metrics for such projects and report on their progress, risks, and results.
  • Ensure all project activities are conducted in accordance with established EHS requirement to ensure the safety of employees, contractors, the community and the environment.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENT: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
  • 5+ years of directly related experience within a manufacturing environment is preferred (experience within protein or food manufacturing is a plus).
COMMUNICATION SKILLS: Must be able to effectively communicate in English including reading, writing, and speaking.
  • Ability to read and write reports and business correspondence.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office including Excel, Work, Outlook, Access, and PowerPoint
  • Ability to successfully lead, direct, and develop a diverse group of employees.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, employees, and peers.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to move about the facility which could include standing/walking on concrete floors up to 10+ hours per day, 6 days per week. The employee will occasionally lift and/or move 35 lbs. and seldom lift and/or move more than 50 pounds. The employee is required to sit, use hand to finger coordination; handle or feel objects, tools, or controls. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Standing, stooping, walking, bending, and climbing are all expected physical abilities, with or without accommodations.
WORK ENVIRONMENT: While performing the duties of this job, the employee routinely works near moving mechanical parts and is exposed to wet, cold and/or humid conditions.
The noise level in the work environment is usually at a level where OSHA required hearing protection is required.
NORMAL WORK SCHEDULE: The hours and days of work are established by departmental needs and at the discretion of management. Must be available to work as scheduled.
