Job Description
Summary


:


The Indexing Clerk is responsible for the accurate filing, scanning and indexing of health record documents into the Community Health Center’s electronic health record systems in accordance with HIPAA policies and Connecticut State law and the Community Health Center’s procedures.


Role And Responsibilities


  • Maintains Confidentiality at all times pertaining to all matters governed by federal and state laws additionally CHC regulations
  • Maintains High Volume Sorting of Medical, Dental, Behavioral Health documents in the electronic health Record.
  • Maintains a good working relationship within the department and other departments.
  • Provides excellent internal/external customer service via telephone, email or fax.
  • Processes web-based encounters received from patients utilizing their patient portal account. These messages include but not limited to messages to provider, Demographic changes, Prescription Requests, etc.
  • Locate, retrieve, maintain, organize and assist users in file/records. Ensure operating and quality standards are met and maintained.
  • Validates all documents received are placed into correct charts.


Complies with the Community Health Center’s mandated in-service training workshops.


  • Performs other related duties as assigned.


Qualifications


Required Skills and Education


  • Knowledge of medical terminology
  • Bilingual a plus (English & Spanish)
  • ECW\Centricity knowledge
  • Microsoft office Experience
  • Prior experience in medical records preferred
  • Previous experience as an Indexing Clerk
  • Associates, Medical Administrative Assistant Cert. or Medical Assistant Cert.


Physical Requirements/Work Environment


  • Full-Time work schedule
  • Moderate physical activity walking, standing, stooping, occasional lifting.
  • Remote workers must live and work in the United States* (*Territories Excluded)
  • This position will include weekend/evening/holiday hours
  • Remote workers must have access to reliable, high-speed Internet
  • Hours to be worked in Eastern time
  • Must be able to move through all office areas, view computer screens and use a keyboard, phone, fax, copier.


Additional Qualificiations


Requires good oral and written communication skills. Must be able to follow written and oral directions, and work independently.


Confidentiality of Information


Full access to patients’ medical records, accounts, some agency procedural manuals. Confidentiality of business information is a requirement. Confidentiality must be maintained according to CHC policies


Compensation


  • Current rate of pay for this position is $20.00/hr
