The Imaging tech aide works as a fundamental part of the imaging department team. Works under the direct supervision of imaging supervisor in a clinical support role. The imaging tech aide is responsible for supporting the technologist in CT, MRI, ultrasound, Nuc med, and /or radiology in routine procedures (ie. such as lifting, transporting, cleaning, and directing patents in and out of the department). Responsible for maintaining a safe environment in which quality patient care is delivered. Staff may be required to float among the imaging departments. Sites include Dover, Somersworth, Portsmouth and Lee.
Essential Functions
  • Demonstrates patient coordination responsibilities for Scheduled outpatients, in-patient add on exams and emergency procedures as necessary. Seeks out Supervisor as needed.
  • Displays professional etiquette utilizing respectful scripting toward coworkers, patients and other healthcare providers.
  • Works closely with all team members to assist with patient flow, update patients regarding potential delays, ensure patient comfort by utilizing caring and respectful skills and department service standards.
  • Escorts/Transports patients from various modalities within the department to exam rooms, assist with patient transfers when applicable, ensures patients are in proper attire needed for quality exam, notifies technologist, nurse or physician immediately of changes in patient's conditions.
  • Pro-actively provides patient and technologist support as needed during exams.
  • Monitors outpatient schedule for discrepancies
  • Greets and assist all who enter the department with enthusiasm, answers telephone per hospital customer service standard, takes messages and relays information to appropriate personnel.
  • Maintains ethical standards (patient confidentiality, professional conduct, etc)
  • Available to support Technologist as appropriate.
  • Demonstrates competence in the performance of duties and responsibilities related to professional performance expectations
  • In EPIC: Can access labs results, add appointment notes, check appointment times, review implant information, scan documents.
  • Performs daily patient confirmation and prep instruction calls for scheduled out-patient; documents necessary information regarding appointment in EPIC; provides follow up information to Technologist when necessary.
  • Provides timely updates/follow up to Supervisor with regard to physician order discrepancies.
  • Monitors outpatient schedule for all locations (Pease, Lee and Main Campus) for appropriate scheduling location for patient convenience and throughput.
  • Demonstrates ability to effectively manage time, is focused, well organized, prioritizes and completes assignments/tasks by established time frame.
  • Demonstrates competence by providing technical assistance to Technologists in reference to Clinical performance main campus and/or off site locations.
  • Assist with maintaining appropriate supply par levels, which includes ordering/receiving supplies, follows policy and procedure. Restocking the scan room/Hub during and at the end of the shift. Supplies and linen
  • Maintains competencies pertinent to information systems used in the department. (i.e. EPIC, PACS Cube, Visage)
  • Exhibits flexibility in daily assignments and performance expectation, is adaptive to change.
  • Actively fosters communication with Supervisor regarding daily issues, discrepancies and concerns.
  • Works closely with Technologist to monitor patient flow and communicate potential delays with patients. Pro-actively communicates updates to patients with regard to wait times.
  • Assists Technologists with preparing rooms for optimized patient throughput, by utilizing room check off lists. Actively involved with room turnaround times. Properly cleaning rooms and preparing for the next patient.
  • Assist with orientation of new team members and volunteers in department, provides supervision of volunteers as needed.
  • Utilizes hospital intranet to access and print department forms. Respectfully instructs patients, parent and/or guardians regarding the necessary screeners and appropriate consents to fill out and sign prior to procedure.
  • Performs anxiety reduction to patients and their families, explains and answers medical questions within the scope of training.
  • Demonstrates competence in the performance of duties and responsibilities related to clinical support for Imaging Services, patients and Physicians to ensure smooth daily operations.
  • Demonstrates competence in Technology Management to include Electronic Imaging & Film/Record Management-uses office equipment and various computer systems/applications to facilitate daily Imaging operations.
  • Provides pre-instructions and estimated times for in-patient and emergency room add-on exams, coordinates care between inpatient and ED team and provides hand off information to Technologist.

  • Minimum of two years healthcare exp
Experience Preferred/Desired
  • Experience with Medical Terminology, Anatomy and Physiology.
  • Experience in a healthcare setting

  • High School Graduate
