Job Description

Description

Criminal Investigator, Internet Crimes Against Children Unit (ICAC), Criminal Law Division, Coeur d'Alene

Salary $41.80 hourly. – Full state employee benefits package which includes 11 paid holidays, sick leave, compensatory time for work in excess of a 40-hour week, low-cost downtown parking, and PERSI retirement, plus options for medical/dental insurance, wellness program, 401k, deferred compensation program, and pre-tax flexible spending accounts for qualifying childcare and medical expenses. Ability to partially telecommute is also available for this position. The office is a qualifying employer for purposes of the Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program (PSLF).

Primary Duties: The primary duties of an Office of the Attorney General investigator include conducting interviews, obtaining and analyzing documents and other evidence, serving subpoenas, obtaining and executing search warrants, preparing reports and exhibits, maintaining investigative case files, testifying in court, and interfacing with other law enforcement agencies. Frequent travel throughout Idaho is required.

The successful applicant will be assigned to the Internet Crimes Against Children Unit (ICAC) in the Criminal Law Division. This is a sworn law enforcement position. This investigator will be responsible for investigating cases involving technology-facilitated crimes against children. These include exploitation, enticement, sextortion and hands-on offenses.

This work requires the investigator to frequently view graphic videos, photographs, and chat logs of child sexual exploitation for investigative purposes, such as to establish crimes committed and to locate evidence to be used in the identification/rescue of live victims and the prosecution of offenders. The Office of the Attorney General requires all its employees routinely exposed to such content to participate in a mental health resiliency program run by a certified clinician.

The Office of the Attorney General’s ICAC Unit works with the Idaho ICAC Task Force, a coalition of federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies to investigate and prosecute individuals that use technology to victimize Idaho children.

Requirements: Applicants must possess ALL of the following:

Current Idaho POST Certification of Intermediate level or higher; minimum education of a high school diploma or equivalent; at least five years law enforcement experience, preferably with an emphasis in investigations; above-average communication and interpersonal skills; a thorough understanding of laws, policies and rules of evidence applicable to Idaho law enforcement service; ability to work both independently and in a close-knit team environment with other investigators and prosecutors; enthusiasm for public service.

Applications: E-mail resumes to [email protected]
