Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) / Refrigeration Mechanic

In this role the HVAC/Refrigeration Mechanic performs routine maintenance on all HVAC and Refrigeration equipment within Hospital complex. You will respond to HVAC and Refrigeration calls as required throughout the facility. You will ensure insure the proper running condition of belts, pulleys, filters and bearings, compressors, evaporators, condensers, pumps and other related HVAC - REF equipment. You will remove and replace worn and damaged items with new ones and realign equipment as necessary. You’ll remove, replace and rebuild steam devices such as valves, traps, coils and piping for both HVAC and Refrigeration equipment. You’ll be responsible for comprehension, calibration, repair and replacement of controls and devices. You will maintain effective communication with team members, Floor Mechanics, Zone Leaders and Systems Leaders to ensure prompt response to requests for repairs and adhere to established safety standards and procedures.

This is a full time Days, Sunday -Thursday, 8:00 am to 4:00 pm shift position located at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital/Weill Cornell Medical Center.

Preferred Criteria

• Valid driver’s license

Required Criteria

• New York City Fire Department Certificate of Fitness for Torch use of Flammable Gases G-60 within 6 months of hire
• Must adhere to and follow shift coverage procedures
• New York City Fire Department Certificate of Fitness for Fireguard F-60 within 6 months of hire
• 5+ years documented experience in maintenance and repair of HVAC & Refrigeration systems
• High School Diploma or GED
• Must be available for weekends, evenings, nights, holidays, emergencies and scheduled work/outages
• EPA approved certification for proper refrigerant handling practices Universal Type
