What you will do
- Properly secure all Johnson Controls Fire Protection tools and equipment at the end of each work period so as to prevent damage or loss.
- Maintain a clean and safe work area. Pick up and properly dispose of all trash associated with Johnson Controls Fire Protection work. Wear appropriate safety equipment as required including bump cap/hard hat, safety glasses, cut resistant gloves, face mask and safety toed boots.
- Follow verbal and written instructions, read and understand complex construction blueprints, diagrams, and specifications used in installation activities.
- Service and troubleshoot wet/dry/ pre-action systems, fire pumps-based fire sprinkler systems, and backflows, including repair and internal inspections of systems.
- Carry/move equipment and tools weighing up to 60 pounds. Perform work in unusual and sometimes difficult positions such as climbing ladders, scaffolding and high lift equipment up to 40 feet or more.
- Working alternate shifts or weekends to meet customer service on call requirements is required.
- Complete and submit time reports and other documents as required.
- Bring to the immediate attention of the dispatcher/supervisor of all changes, discrepancies and coordination problems that impair activities or schedules.
- Perform other duties as directed.
- Have computer/phone skills - Word, Excel, Outlook and IPhone apps and functions
How you will do it
Apprentices shall perform all pneumatic control systems and mechanical equipment service and all other work coming under the labor agreement assigned by the Employer, limited only by their capabilities as determined by the Employer, at the respective apprentice rate of pay, and shall perform all assigned work under the direction of the Employer. Troubleshoots and resolves problems. Responds to basic warranty calls. Keeps JCI, contractors, and the customer informed of job progress and issues as needed. This is a Bargaining Union Position
What we look for
Required
High School Diploma or equivalent.
Familiarity with HVAC equipment.
Ability to perform general building maintenance.
Good verbal and written communication skills.
Self-starter with ability to work independently.
This position requires a valid driver’s license
Willingness to supplement on-the-job training with training provided through the apprenticeship program
Preferred
EPA Refrigeration certification a plus
