Job Description

Who we are:

Trident Maritime Services is a leading provider of turnkey marine vessel systems and aftermarket support for government and commercial customers worldwide. We are looking for a motivated HVAC/R Technician to take the lead as an in-house technical expert for our Distributed Systems and Electromechanical Field Service Group in support of government and commercial marine vessels and offshore oil and gas applications. As a Trident employee, you will work directly with DS&EM management and be the on-site representative for Trident Maritime Systems.

This is achieved with detailed planning, rapid response, and thorough diagnosis. With your help, Trident Maritime Systems will demonstrate and grow its resiliency and reliability in the domain of maritime HVAC/R.


Summary:

Duties of the HVAC/R Technician include diagnosis, maintenance, and modernization of commercial HVAC and refrigeration equipment in the maritime environment. The ideal candidate will serve as the on-site lead and point-of-contact for HVAC/R requirements for maintenance and repair. This individual should have sharp diagnosis skills, good attention to detail, good organizational skills and must be a team player. Verbal and written communication skills are necessary to notify and document, to management and customers, known failures, diagnosis, and repair recommendations, as well as results of applied repairs.

The HVAC/R Technician will work under the leadership of the DS&EM Field Service Manager. This is a key position in our Distributed Systems and Electro Mechanical Field Service Group maintenance and modernization efforts. As such, this resource must live in the San Diego, CA area and be able to travel as necessary, possibly internationally, to conduct, oversee, or facilitate maintenance and repair and to meet with the customers and Trident Maritime Systems leadership and project management team.


Responsibilities:

  • Installing, maintaining and repairing HVAC/R systems and equipment
  • Provide leadership and guidance in the development more junior staff members
  • Make recommendations and define innovative risk reduction and capability improvements
  • Diagnosing electrical and mechanical faults for HVAC/R systems.
  • Participate in peer reviews of efforts to ensure technical adequacy and alignment to Trident strategic and mission advancement
  • Contribute content to the technical writing team on related topics that need to be covered for whitepapers, briefs and other related material
  • Contribute to both scheduled and unscheduled deliverables
  • Providing technical direction and on-the-job training.
  • Must be able to work independently as well as to manage subcontractors.
  • Provide leadership and guidance in the development, design and application of solutions implemented by more junior staff members
  • Cleaning, adjusting and repairing systems, and performing warranty services.


Qualifications:

Required:

  • Proven technical knowledge and experience of working in HVAC/R segment mostly on industrial centralized systems, including Brazing, Vacuuming, Pressure Testing, Commissioning, Overhauls, and additional like tasking.
  • Experience in handling reports & communications in a concise way.
  • Strong HVAC and Refrigeration technical knowledge.
  • Perform start-up/commissioning on large tonnage reciprocating, screw and centrifugal compressor systems.
  • US Citizenship is required for DoD compliance purposes
  • Proficient language skills in English
  • Troubleshooting and repairs of large HVAC and Refrigeration systems. Experience with York, Carrier and Trane equipment.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in servicing, maintenance, fixing electrical/ mechanical parts of HVAC and Refrigeration systems in Marine / Offshore sector
  • Ability to read and understand electrical drawing and trouble shoot on HVAC and Refrigeration Systems, VFD starters and other starters.
  • Valid Driving License
  • Universal EPA Certification required


Preferred

  • Active US Passport
  • Experience in consulting and multi-project, multi-customer domains
  • Knowledge of Fire Detection / Suppression systems is an advantage.
  • Active security clearance
  • Ability to obtain a security clearance
  • Familiarity working with DoD requirements
