Utilities Technician


(Stationary Engineer/HVAC Mechanic/ Ammonia Refrigeration Technician)


The Kraft Heinz Company is currently seeking a Utilities Technician to work at our processing facility in Avon- NY . Ideal candidates must be safety and quality orientated and be willing to work in a team orientated- fast paced work environment.


Minimum Qualifications


  • Must be physically capable of wearing a gas mask and self-contained breathing apparatus.
  • Must be capable of completing all lifting (100 lbs.)- climbing- and other physical demands.
  • CFC Certification - Type I & Type II (Minimum) as defined by EPA.
  • Must have working knowledge of refrigeration- steam generation- compressed air and HVAC fields.
  • Steam/Refrigeration License preferred.
  • This job requires flexibility to work first- second- and/or third shift- weekends- and holidays.

  • Must have a complete understanding of all machinery including operating adjustments- maintenance and troubleshooting.
  • Compensation $25.00 - $40.00 an hour (depending on experience and certifications)- PLUS
  • Is a primary member of the Emergency Response Team and must be knowledgeable of all emergency response procedures- especially action regarding ammonia releases to the environment and isolation/containment thereof and is subject to call in at any time including weekends and holidays.

  • The job expectations are to work from brief verbal as well as moderately complex written instructions with minimal supervision and without close observation.
  • 493-000 sq. ft. production space on a 67 acre site.
  • A $.75 shift differential for those who working on second.
  • Under the direction of the Facility Maintenance and Engineering Manager- the Ammonia Refrigeration Technician is responsible for the safe- efficient and reliable operation- maintenance and monitoring of the plant ammonia/refrigeration- compressed air- process steam- steam plant heating- steam condensate- hot/cold water- HVAC- fire protection.
  • Computer usage and knowledge is necessary for the tracking and operation of the systems operated.
